Knowledge

I took a photography class on lighting last week. I learned a lot of stuff, including the fact that I have a lot more to learn!
Here are some shots I took:

We took some shots of people too, but I think this is the first time I have shot something other then people, so I thought I would show these. (I used to have this real hang-up on having people in every photo that I took, but I am learning to let that go!)

Sledding

We went sledding with Steve, Angie, Ryan, and Emily on Monday. (Okay everyone else went sledding, Angie and I took pictures the whole time...but that is to be expected from us!)

My favorite part of the day was when Alec decided that being in a sled was too fast and scary so he went "sledding" on his bum. He slid down the hill and then went back up again to do it over and over. One time he decided to race everyone and started going down and then shouted to us at the bottom, "get out of the way," like he was coming at us fast. It was so funny.

Green Beans = Torture

We had green beans for dinner last night. (Now I know my kids don't like green beans, but sometimes I want something other then corn and carrots). Well you would think I was serving my kids raw fish guts! Their reaction every time we have green beans is priceless.

Gavin cried big tears for 30 minutes because I put 4 green beans on his plate and told him he had to eat them. Then came the, "You are the meanest parents in the world," and the "You are killing me!" But my favorite of the night was, "This is torture. You guys are torturing me. You guys love to torture me!" I honestly kept having to leave the room to laugh. My kids are so dramatic!

Good Intentions

I had this great plan that I was going to do a scrapbook page for every month of 2007 and submit it as a "our 2007 year in review," post. Well I only got through June done, and I am a couple of weeks late posting it.

Better late (and half baked) then never...I always say!

Sick

Every year during January and February we are sick at our house.
Every week we have a new illness we are fending off. People used to not believe me when I told them this, but over the years, they are seeing that it is true.
Our sicknesses actually started in December this year. So far we have had:
Stomach flu, twice.
Parvovirus (this is a new one I have never heard of until now).
Sinus-head colds
And this week it is the Influenza flu. Brett, Gavin, and Brynn are very ill.

I am sure none of this really matters, but it is our life right now, so I thought I would share.
Tune in next week to see what has hit us! (I am hoping by saying this out loud the opposite will be true, and we won't get anything...fingers crossed).

SNOW

It has snowed almost every day for 2 weeks now.
Almost every morning when we wake up there is more snow on the ground!
Not that I am complaining. Actually I love snow and cold weather. I am happy we actually have snow this year. In the last couple of years we have had very little.
The kids have really been enjoying the snow.
The only problem is that for some reason where we live the snow is very dry
and not sticky. This makes it almost impossible to make a snowman, or snowballs.
Mainly we just throw around piles of fluff at each other!

The Holidays

These last two weeks have been a whirlwind of activity. I haven't had enough time to sit and blog. Well the Holidays are over and the kids go back to school tomorrow! I guess I can finally post about Christmas.

The weekend before Christmas we went to Brett's family Christmas party at his brother's house. We then ventured further south the next day and had a family Christmas party at my brother's house (Though I have no photos of that because I forgot my camera).

On our way home we took an unexpected stop at Temple Square to see the lights (and pick up my camera)
Christmas Eve we always spend with Brett's brother Steve and his family. It was at their house this year. We have dinner and then the kids get to open pajamas. Then we go home and wait for Santa!

Christmas day our kids were spoiled like usual. The big present this year was a Wii. (It has been played non-stop since Christmas).

After opening gifts at our house on Christmas morning we then head to Brett's parents to spend the day with his family.

A couple of days after Christmas we went to my brother's house in Idaho and had a good time with his little family. We played the Wii on their huge TV and we went sledding. It was a lot of fun. The kids have never been sledding before and they couldn't get enough of it (except for Alec who went once and decided it was too fast for him).

New Years Eve we went back to Idaho to my brother's house again. One of my sisters and her family were there, and we played the Wii into the wee hours of the night. It was a blast. I have decided after playing Wii sports that I never have to go to another bowling alley again. It feels like the real thing! On a funny note: Brynn's favorite Wii game is boxing. She is really good at it too!

In between all that we went to a couple of Aggie games, went to a movie, and I worked and did a photo shoot. (Wow I swear vacations are more work then relaxation). Now it is time to try and clean up and start a new year.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!
