Pumpkin Walk

The pumpkin walk was really well done this year. Here a few of our favorites:

How Many Pumpkins can Peter Piper Pick?

We caught wind of this pumpkin patch near our house. We decided to check it out this past weekend. It was awesome. There were miles of pumpkins to choose from and the kids had a blast running around trying to find the bestest, biggest pumpkin. (And they charged us much less than any other place we have bought pumpkins).

Then we turned them into these:

Fun Eats

I love Halloween. One of my favorite things is finding fun treats to make. This year we have had...
Powdered donut eyeballs

Mini caramel apples
The kids struggle trying to eat caramel apples and only a couple of bites are eaten. I found this idea to use a melon baller and cut out little pieces of apple and dip them in caramel. Works great and bite size is just the right size.

Pumpkin shaped bread bowls that our local bakery makes.
Just right for homemade cheesy potato soup.

Monster Brownies

The kids had a blast making these. I got the idea here.

Well it isn't Disneyland but it will do

We were supposed to go to Disneyland over UEA, but because of extenuating circumstances we canceled our trip. We decided to recoup some fun and went to Lagoon on Friday.

We had the best day...
*We made the mistake of going on Wicked first. This is a scary rollercoaster and Alec was turned off a lot of rides for the rest of the day. (We should have worked up to that one).

*Our kids could go on all the rides.

*There were tons of teenagers there and it made me realize our kids are at such good ages. They still want to, and enjoy hanging out with their parents.

*They had a few haunted house attractions. Brynn wanted to go to the scariest one. That girl isn't afraid of anything. We went to a not very scary one and after we were done Brynn said, "Now can we go to something that is actually scary." (It was very scary to me. I am a wuss when it comes to that stuff).

*Alec's favorite ride was the skyride. This is my least favorite ride (I have a fear of hanging from cables), however, I went on it 4 times with Alec.

*We went on Rattlesnake rapids and got totally wet. We forgot that it was October and the sun went down early. The kids were wet and freezing the rest of the night. They didn't seem to mind though.

*Lagoon makes me feel old. It makes my muscles sore and my bones creak. I think I still have whiplash.

*I love days like this when all you think about is the moment you are in. That is when you are happiest, when you are living in the moment. I love laughing with my kids.

Oh yeah...That's why

All the cleaning, feeding, comforting, fighting, refereeing, chauffeuring, bodily function clean-up, worrying, biting the tongue, teaching, lecturing, stressing, wanting to pull some hair out, wondering, praying, money spending, grounding...

Is so worth it for moments like these:

(Alec's teacher has little pouches for each kid in her class. If the kids get free time they can write nice notes to each other and put it their pouch. (What a great idea by the way). Alec passed me this note while I was helping in his class. Love him.)

Because we live in a zoo...

I forgot to post that we got a new pet in August. Alec wanted a fish for his birthday. So "Stinky" the Beta Fish was added to our zoo.

We now have 4 pets, as Alec has clearly demonstrated in this picture:
(Pepper, George, Annie, Stinky)

Lovin' the Fall

I was doing a photo shoot of a family when the sun came out from behind the clouds and lit up the fall colors. Beautiful.
