It is all fun and games until someone gets their eye poked out

* I jumped the gun when I called this a miracle. His iris had actually fallen backwards and his eye sphincter was cut.
* The sphincter is like an elastic. This picture was right after his accident. The elastic was still in place somewhat. After awhile it "unraveled" and became smooth. Just like cutting an elastic.
* The sphincter muscle cannot be fixed.
* His iris is done growing.
* That means his eye will always look like this.
* In these pictures he is looking out the window. One pupil is small. The damaged one cannot shrink at all. Even in the light.
* I know there are worse things in the world, but as a mother knowing that your perfect child is deformed in any way is heart breaking.
* He will always have to protect his eye while outside.
* He will eventually get a cataract in it.
* He needs another surgery on March 1st. The doctor is going to try and sweep the iris up a bit. But he is not confident it will work. Even if it does the sphincter still will never work.
* The doctor says this is a very rare thing, to cut the eye sphincter. That pencil beat the odds and hit at the exact right place to cut it.
* We have the worst luck ever.
* The second picture is a good look at his stitches. They fascinate me. There are five of them. On the eyeball!!
* He has tears in his eyes because he is tired of his mom trying to get a good picture of those stitches.

Things I love number 3

I just need to say that these things I love are not in any particular order. They are just things in my everyday life that make me happy.

Like this:

Every day at 3:30 Annie runs to the front window and watches for the kids to get off the bus. The tail kills me. She gets so excited to see her kids. Every day as I watch her excitement and that tail wag I have to smile.

The Things I Love number one

I am a pessimist. Sometimes I want to be an optimist. Sometimes optimism drives me crazy. I used to be more optimistic. But life has kicked me enough times to put a pessimistic tint on my rose color glasses.

I need to be a bit more optimistic. I need to see the good things in life. There are many. I just happen to overlook them most of the time.

So because this is the month of LOVE I am going to start a series of posts on the things I love. The things I recognize as good in my life. This will be random and who knows how often I will do it.

So first and foremost the greatest love of my life is this man:
(My awesome friend Ivy took this picture)
I can't say enough how much I love Brett. Seriously he works so hard every day to make me happy. He loves me completely, no matter what. (He also puts new toilet paper rolls on when the roll runs out, does the dishes every night, and kisses me goodbye every time he leaves the house).
