Alec kisses

I blew Alec a kiss today. This is what he had to say about it:

Alec: "Those kind don't count mom."
Mom: "Why not?"
Alec: "Because those aren't real kisses. Real kisses have to land on you."

I suppose there is some logic to that (:

Productive Weekend

I have wanted to get rid of my gross carpet forever (according to Brett it was like 3 months after we moved into this house 8 years ago, I think it was more like 6 months...but who is counting?) Well I finally convinced Brett that we could do it for pretty cheap and thanks to IKEA we were able to put in wood floors (laminate).

BEFORE
Look at all of the dirt that accumulates under your carpet! It is so gross!
AFTER
We painted the livingroom and hallway while we were at it. Everything now looks so fresh and clean! (well besides the footprints that I didn't wipe off before I took this picture)

I love my new floors! Thanks to my wonderful husband for working so hard this weekend to make me happy! (And thus ends my endless battle with some of my carpet...now I will start obsessing about the bedroom carpets).

Summer, Swimming, and my Sister

Last weekend my sister Anna came up to visit with her husband Mike and their baby girl Lillie. They are moving to Washington DC next month and I am not sure when we get to see them again. This makes me a little sad.

We all went swimming together and had a great time
Brynn was tall enough to go down the straight slide. Being the daredevil she is she tried it. She wasn't that impressed with it. I don't think she has any desire to do it again!

Lillie loved splashing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYNN! (yesterday)

It was Brynn's 7th birthday yesterday.

She wanted a desk, so I ventured with my sister-in-law Kim to IKEA and found one for her. She loves it and was given some fun art supplies that she can use to make great projects on her desk.

She is like her mom and loves Cabbage Patch Kids!
We had dinner (Brynn's favorite Spinach Pie, and Dutch oven for those who don't like spinach pie) and cake and ice cream with Grandma and Grandpa Francis and Aunt Angie, Uncle Steve, and cousins Ryan and Emily. Aunt Anna and her family also came up the day before. It was a good weekend.

We love our Brynn and wish she wasn't growing up so fast!

Photo shoot blog

I have seen some cute blogs of photographers who share some pictures of their recent photo shoots. I have decided to join in. I now have a blog that I will update of the photo shoots that I do.

Alec lost his first tooth!

Not many 3 year olds get a visit from the tooth fairy, however, Alec will get that privilege tonight.
He had a tooth that grew in funny and chipped off when he was 2. The dentist put a crown on it. Well last week the crown fell off, along with most of the remaining tooth. There wasn't enough there to salvage, so the whole thing came out. The dentist offered to put in a little denture tooth for looks, but I declined. (I really don't feel like paying for a baby denture tooth!) He will look funny for a year or two, but then he will fit in with all of the other 5-6 year olds loosing their teeth. And eventually he will have a nice new tooth growing in that spot.

And even a missing tooth doesn't put any damper on that kids smile!

Camping

We went camping with our friends that we go on vacation with at least once a year. This year we went camping by Lava Hot Springs. The kids had a great time. Besides the dirt, bugs, no showers, and lots of work, Brett and I had a great time too.

All the kids in the tie dye T-shirts they made.
Back row: Gavin, Brynn, Bailey, Easton, Alayna, Naomi
Front row: Elijah, Maigen, Alec, Annika, Morgan, Zach, Parker (sorry if I butchered any names)

Brett teaching the kids Boondoggle.

We all had to do a little skit with a handful of random items. The kids had a blast with this!

These are pictures of the kids with glow sticks at night. I kept my shutter open for a few seconds to get this cool effect.

We also went swimming at Lava, rode bikes, played games, did some fun crafts, had awesome dutch oven, and just sat around talking, eating, and enjoying ourselves (in the dirt, with the bugs).

The 4th of July (only 3 days late)

We have a couple of traditions for the Fourth of July Holiday. On the 3rd the Francis Family gets together for a BBQ and then watches the fireworks at USU. We also decorate our bikes for the children's parade the next day.

On the 4th the kids ride their bikes in the Ogden children's parade, which precedes the real parade.

After the parade we head to Grandma and Grandpa Francis' house for food, and water fights.

Later that night we went to our friends, the Cases, for homemade icecream and fireworks. (The boys kept trying to light things on fire and play sword fights with their sparklers...boys!) (Kim another thing to look forward to with boys...they are pyros!)

Siblings

A couple of weeks ago we spent the day in Idaho helping my little brother Spencer re-do his roof. My sister Rachel and her husband Jordan were there, and my older brother Andrew and his wife and 7 kids (yeah 7!) were there. They just had twins in April and this was the first time I have seen them. They are very cute. I just have to admire anyone who has twins as their 6th and 7th children!
Gavin wanted to climb on the roof and help. I wasn't sure I was happy about this. I quickly took a picture and then went in the house. My young son on a roof was a little too much for me to handle, but I am learning to let him be a bit more independent (but that doesn't mean I have to watch!)
Brynn and Brynlee are so cute together. We think it might have something to do with them having similar names, but they have always had a special bond.

We took all the kids bowling while our husbands were on the roof. My kids have never been bowling before and it was a fun new experience.

Yesterday I met up with my sister, Gretta, and her family at Bear Lake. They are up from New Mexico for the week and it was good to see them. We had a really great day, being pulled by the boat on a tube, and playing on the beach. (Her in-laws were so good to us and took us out on their boat all day!)

Nate, Gretta, Eva, and Emmie
I don't see my siblings very often, so it was good to hang out with them the last couple of weeks.

HAPPY CANADA DAY PEOPLE!
