My Gavie

My little boy, for some reason you looked so grown up to me today. This tears me up inside. On one hand I wish I could rewind a few years and have you stay a little boy forever. On the other hand I am excited to see the man you will become. I understand that growing up is inevitable. I just wish you could maybe slow it down a little bit.

Girl's Camp

I am the assistant Camp Director for Girl's Camp (an LDS youth group camp for 12-18 year old girls). I have mixed feelings about Girl's Camp. I love the girls and we have so much fun every year. However, cooking, cleaning, planning, feeding, and watching over 23 girls for 4 days is very exhausting! I am very tired!

We colored pillowcases, tied flip-flops, made bracelets (I found out that I am not good at this craft), swam in the river, ate good food, had spiritual experiences, played night games, goofed around, hiked, shared one porta potty (with 35 people), and didn't get much sleep. Sounds like good times to me!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Whoever coined the term "Lazy days of summer," obviously did not have three small kids, 2 jobs, and a church calling!
This is one of those weeks that is so busy and overwhelming that you are tempted to call it quits and walk away. Ever had one of those weeks?
I have had 3 photo shoots, I am assisant camp director for girl's camp (which is next week), and I have to work double time because I am going to be gone to girl's camp next week. Not to mention my kids have all kinds of activities going on this week.
All these things are good and enjoyable, however, all at once they become overwhelming.

Vocabulary

I am seriously questioning where Alec is getting his vocabulary from. He just called his brother a "Buttocks."

The Love

I found out today the extent of Brett's love for me.

Sarah: "Guess what? The New Kids on the Block are back together and are going on tour. They will be here in November. I think I might want to go to that concert, for old times sake!"

Brett: "Who are going to go with?"

Sarah: "You won't go with me?"

Brett: "Sarah I love you a lot, but I don't love you that much!"

Brynn got her cast off today. She has been counting down the days for 2 weeks now. She is so excited to finally be able to have water fights with her brothers! She was really getting tired of wearing a cast.

Boo-Ya

Mom: Alec you need to get dressed and do your chores.

Alec: Boo-Ya!

Not exactly what I expected to come out of my 3 year old. Where do they come up with these things?

Insomnia

I get insomnia a lot. As a result things like finally figuring out how to change my blog comes about. I also learned that the milk man comes about 2:30 in the morning, and you get a lot of junk email in the middle of the night. I also realize that running on no sleep, having my husband out of town, and all my kids at home makes for an unpleasent day.
