Friday Weigh In

I lost 0.6 pounds today for a total of 23 pounds.

I am learning that I lose weight very slowly. I suppose this is okay with me as long as I keep losing. Slow and steady.

Thankful Thursdays

Today I don't feel very good, and I am very tired and grumpy. And on days like this it is hard to think about things you are thankful for (even though I have a lot of things, my mind just isn't going there).

So today I am thankful for my husband offering to come home early and make dinner so I don't have to. I love him.

Friday Weigh In

Today I lost 1.4 pounds. Making it a total of 22.4 pounds.

My goal was to lose 8 pounds this month (from the first Friday in Jan. to the first Friday in Feb.). So far I have lost 2.6 pounds. So I have 5.4 more to lose in 2 weeks. I don't think I am going to make that goal at the rate I am going. I will try my hardest though.

Probably eating a big fat plate of Olive Garden pasta last night didn't help. But it sure tasted good!

Thankful Thursdays

So yesterday our furnace went out. It is bitter cold here, so my house was freezing. Luckily Brett is a genius and was able to buy a new part and fix it. But for most of the morning it was very cold around here.

So what I am thankful for today are Homemade rice and/or corn hot packs.

These things are so wonderful! Just throw them in the microwave for a couple of minutes and instant warmth for a couple of hours. I have had a couple given to me and this year I made a bunch for Christmas presents and Bunco gifts. They are so easy to make. I also learned that you can put them in the freezer and make a cold pack with them.

Every night the kids and I put one at the bottom of our feet in bed. So warm and comfy!

(If anyone wants to know how to make these just let me know. They are very easy! Sewing is involved though).

Kidspeak

I was reminded of a story from my childhood this morning. Gavin asked me when Brynn's Car-Cool was coming. I have told him many times that it is Carpool, but he still calls it Carcool. It makes me smile. All my kids say words that are a little off and they are so cute.

I remember when I was little I used to pronounce caterpillar as calli-pitter. Everyone who heard me would laugh and I didn't understand why. They would pronounce caterpillar to me and I would say, "That is what I said!"

As much as I want my kids to say the right words, I really don't want to change their made up words. They make me smile and are a fun part of childhood. They will eventually figure it out, just like I did (Though I had to look up in the dictionary how to spell caterpillar. Bad spelling I will probably never grow out of).

Friday Weigh in

I gained 0.8 this week. My total is 21 pounds lost.

I am in a pattern lately of up/down and really just staying the same. My body seems comfortable where it is at. This is frustrating because I am not comfortable with where I am at. This means I need to do a drastic change again. The last time in order to get out of my rut I started walking 12 miles a day. That did the trick. I am not sure I am up to doing that again right now. I am going to have to think of something.

Thankful Thursdays

I am thankful that we were able to watch my neice Charlotte all week this week. We love when Charlotte comes to visit. She is a very cute, animated, very even tempered little girl. She makes my kids smile and fight over who gets to play with her next. She is fun to have around and we sure love her.

I am also very thankful that Traci and Charlotte are a part of Matt's and our lives!

Kids!!!!!!!

Disclaimer: I freely will admit that I am not a perfect parent, and the following story will confirm this. Just so you know.

Gavin told Brynn to shut up today. The following conversation occured after that:

Mom: Gavin we don't say that word. That is not nice to say!

Gavin: But you and Dad say it to us sometimes.

Mom: Yeah I know we do and we apologize for it after and try not to say it. But we do make mistakes sometimes and that word gets said.

Gavin: Me saying it wasn't a mistake. I meant to say it on purpose!

That kid!

Friday Weigh in

I am finally posting this with 10 minutes left in Friday. I have been busy all day!

Today I lost 2 pounds! That is a total of 21.8 pounds. Not bad considering the fact that I haven't been to the gym that much this week. I have been sick and have no energy. Just trying to eat good has helped.

I am noticing a pattern. I lose 2 pounds, gain 2 pounds...so I really stay the same. I am going to have to push myself the next couple of weeks to see some real improvement.

Thankful Thursdays

I don't believe in New Year's resolutions. I do believe in trying to improve your life in simple ways at any time of the year. So today I wanted to start something that will bring a little more positive thinking in my life. (And the fact that I am starting this around the new year is just a coincidence.)

I am starting "Thankful Thursdays." Every Thursday I will post something I am thankful for in life. Here goes:

I am thankful that our van was fixed this week. I am thankful that it only took a couple of days, we had a great rental car, everything went really smoothly, and the guy who hit us had insurance.

Friday Weigh In

I think I subconsciously forgot to post this yesterday. It is hard to admit defeat. But I must look at it positively. I gained 2.6 pounds over the last couple of weeks. But I probably ate about 5 pounds worth of chocolate, so I am doing fairly well, right?

I suppose it is time to start getting serious again. This month I will go to the gym an hour in the morning and an hour at night, 5 days a week. I will also lay off the chocolate (at least a little less). My goal this month is to lose 8 pounds. Lets see if I can pull it off.

Happy New Year

2008 was not my favorite year. It was tough on a lot of different levels for us. Hopefully 2009 will be much better for us! Here's to hoping and to hoping your year is great too!
